About Our Scheme

The Music for Schools Foundation scheme is specifically designed for primary school children, (keystage 2) learning in a small group environment at school.

During lessons, pupils work through the Standard of Excellence band method, a series of tutor books with accompanying CDs specially geared towards group learning.

Pupils work towards short and long-term goals, achieving merit certificates and stickers as they progress.

What can I learn?

Instruments currently taught on our scheme are: clarinet, flute, saxophone, cornet and trumpet.

Getting an instrument

Instruments can be obtained through one of our instrument packages supplied through Normans, the largest provider of brass and woodwind instruments in the UK.

Making music accessible

We pride ourselves on being able to offer brass and woodwind lessons to a large cross section of society, and to this end in certain areas there may be funding available to budding musicians in low-income families.  Being a charity ourselves, there is only a limited pot, but please do contact us if you would like to find out more.

Good Gifts

Music for Schools Foundation has been selected to feature in the Good Gifts Catalogue (www.goodgifts.org). You can buy music lessons for our pupils.

The price of the gift is passed on to us in full. So, it is an excellent way of solving your gift problems, and supporting our work.

The Good Gifts Catalogue has a wedding list and wish list service, particularly suitable for special occasions like anniversaries or significant birthdays. You can use Good Gifts as In Memoriam presents and keep a few in stock for unexpected birthdays or Christmas gifts.

The purchaser gets a card to give, or keep, acknowledging the gift, along with the guarantee that the gift is always wanted.
